Post offices relocating over lease issues

The Postal Service has announced plans to relocate the Olpe Post Office in Olpe, Kansas, the Pineville Post Office in Pineville, North Carolina, and the Benning Station Post Office in Washington, D.C.

The Olpe office was “temporarily suspended” in May 2022 over a lease issue. The mayor said the Postal Service told him that it wanted to do a “de-post-ification,” and a cluster box unit was installed to provide PO Box service until a new location could be found. Earlier this month, the Postal Service announced that it was proposing a new location in the same zip code area, but did not specify where it would be.

The Pineville and Benning Station post offices are still open while the Postal Service goes through the relocation process. A new location for the Benning Station has been found a half mile away. A new location for the Pineville office is yet-to-be-determined.
