mlive.com: Three post offices in Southwest Michigan will remain open as retail locations even though their delivery units will be consolidated at one new Sorting and Delivery Center in Kalamazoo beginning June 1, 2024.
Customers will not notice a change in the retail services offered at the Portage, Schoolcraft and Kalamazoo-Westwood branch post offices, said U.S. Postal Service spokesperson Elizabeth Najduch.
“Customers will see no changes to their local post office retail operations,” Najduch said. “No post offices will be closed and P.O. Box service will not be changed.
The change at the three offices comes to back-of-store operations. Mail carriers will no longer pick up mail for delivery from the retail locations. Instead, they will commute to a Sorting and Delivery Center — which will be established in the existing facility on Ninth Street in Oshtemo Township — to pick up mail they need to deliver before the start of each shift..
