Carroll County Times: The Finksburg, Maryland, post office will move, but its new home hasn’t been decided upon. In a news release distributed this week, the U.S. Postal Service announced its decision to relocate the Finksburg post office, but said a new site has not yet been determined. At an August community meeting on a possible relocation of the office, Richard Hancock, a real estate specialist for U.S. Postal Service, told the roughly 50 community members in attendance that the 4,400-square-foot current site, at 2999 Dede Road, is too large for the office’s needs. Hancock said that the Postal Service would prefer a smaller space where it can operate retail, P.O. box and mail acceptance services. The Finksburg post office has not housed mail carrier services since 2012, when the carrier operation moved to Westminster. (The Postal Service has been leasing the Dede Road location since 1984.)
