Developer is buying Chicago’s Old Main Post Office


Crain’s Chicago Business: The owner of two high-profile downtown Chicago properties is set to buy a notorious one: the sprawling Old Main Post Office.Developer 601W has a contract on the 2.7 million-square-foot colossus along the Chicago River in the West Loop, according to a broker who is representing Monaco-based owner Bill Davies in the sale.Led by Mark Karasick, 601W is an experienced developer that has owned real estate throughout the U.S. The New York-based firm is known in Chicago as the owner of the city’s third-tallest building, the 83-story Aon Center, and its next-door neighbor, two-tower Prudential Plaza.  Read more.
