Burlingame CA post office sold, will become mixed use space

The historic Burlingame, California, post office was sold earlier this month, and plans have been revealed for its future.  The new owners, the Wang-Lu Family Revocable Trust., plans to build condominiums, retail and office space.

The U.S. Postal Service sold the property at 220 Park Road as part of a nationwide effort to downsize and cut costs. The agency will open a new, smaller location just a couple blocks away on Primrose Road within five months, said Postal Service spokesman James Wigdel.

The sale was finalized Sept. 5 but only recently disclosed. Neither the Postal Service nor the trust has revealed the sale price, but documentary transfer tax records filed with San Mateo County indicate the trust paid $15.7 million.  Read more.
