Pentagraph: The Eagle Station post office on Towanda Avenue will close permanently at noon Friday and the main Bloomington post office will return to its original location on Empire Street, opening at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 12.

Customer service operations were transferred from the facility near Eastland Mall to Eagle Station, a former grocery store at 1211 Towanda Ave., in 1999.

As reported in the Pentagraph in August 2018, when the relocation was first proposed, many residents complained that using the post office when it was on East Empire Street was a traffic nightmare, and “it was a great relief” when it moved to Towanda Avenue.
