havasunews.com: The contract post office that serves the Desert Hills, Arizona, community will close its doors May 31 along with the mini mart it currently resides within. Maggie Hickson, a Desert Hills Post Office employee, said owners of the Desert Hills Mini Mart are selling their business, but the post office can’t legally be a part of the private sale. Hickson said staff has been working to inform its customers about their options, which include transferring their mail to a PO Box in Lake Havasu City, putting a mailbox at their home address or using a private mailbox company. She said the post office is regularly used by people throughout the year who don’t want to travel into town for postal services. “It’s not a real happy thing for the people in this area,” Hickson said. “They really liked to use the local post office.” Read more.
