Hartsburg News: Cameron Village is a hotspot for growth in Raleigh, NC, but as businesses, condominiums and people move in, the neighborhoodâs longtime post office is about to close.
The 56-year-old building on Oberlin Road that houses the post office has been sold to make way for more development around Cameron Village, and all tenants have been ordered to âvacate the premisesâ by the end of the year.
âItâs heartbreaking,â said Robert McMillan, who said he has used the post office for 43 years â ever since he was a student at nearby North Carolina State University. âItâs a pretty big inconvenience.â
Post office employees have been sending notices out with customers, urging them to âcall ASAP to voice your concernsâ to Raleighâs postmaster.
Postal Service officials couldnât be reached for comment Friday, so itâs unclear whether another site for a post office in the Cameron Village area is planned. Â Read more.
